Professional Standards
Together with others who have a passion for this work I share a desire to see improved standards in the fields of executive coaching and leadership consulting and this led me to join forces with other coaching pioneers to co-found the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) in 2000. I remain committed to this work in my role on the advisory committee to the Main Board.

Whilst I see myself primarily as a practitioner, not an academic, I also believe that good theory strengthens good practice and have published several journal articles, a book chapter in the Sage International Handbook of Coaching on the Gestalt Approach to Coaching, and a coaching textbook 'Psychological Dimensions of Executive Coaching' (2006). I am also regularly asked to speak at international conferences and have delivered presentations in Europe, the US and China.

During the past ten years I've also acted as Programme Director on postgraduate coaching education programmes up to masters level with the business school of Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK and the Smurfit Graduate Business School of University College Dublin (UCD).
